Solar power doesn't just have to be bright outdoor lights or pond pumps - it can be fun little products that don't require much power to run, are great gifts and can be placed on your desk or car's dashboard dancing & bobbling away with no running costs.
Novelty solar toys such as "wobblers" make great gifts for any age, and are often supplied with a self adhesive sticker on the base for placing inside your car on the dashboard. We can all remember the dancing flowers from the 1990's, and it's great to see such a wider range of designs & styles making their way into solar powered toys, back then, they did require batteries and were terribly non-efficient meaning most people just let the batteries die.. and with it the sunglasses wearing sunflower no longer danced 😢
I feel one of the major benefits of these solar gifts is the price, they are very cheap, can wrap up lovely for Christmas / birthdays, and require no batteries to be installed - they are powered by the ambient light in your home.
Having quite a collection of solar powered toys, my UK home is quite the happy place, and I am not ashamed to say that many have made it into my bedroom and car. The maintenance of the dancing toys is pretty minimal only requiring an occasional dust, and my dancing friends are alive with movement once again.
My desk also has quite a few of the small solar delights, much to the judging eyes of my wife, but once they start dancing, it's all smiles. We've all seen the US Office with Dwight's obsession with bobble heads... well take it from me, nothing makes me crack a smile more than seeing my dancing snowman!

My Final thoughts about Solar Powered Desk Toys
So there you have it, my top list of solar powered novelty toys. There are literally hundreds of different styles each with their own merit. I would not recommend buying these dancing solar wobblers for children of a young age due to their fragile construction, however if placed out of arms reach - they are so much fun to have on a shelf / desk.
If you're looking for a solar car novelty gift, then these pretty much fit the bill - they are light, and can be attached to your dashboard with either the enclosed sticky pad, or with some blue tack / double sided tape. The other added bonus of using them in a car/truck/van is... when you're vehicle is moving it will automatically bobble the little wobblers naturally.
